Hillside Clubhouse
Hillside is a coproduced mental health charity supporting people across Islington. We run a varied programme of activities and support to rebuild confidence, re-engage with your community and rediscover a sense of purpose. Our services include a wide range of activities, tasks, and roles for you to explore, as well as tailored back-to-work Employment Support (IPS) and specialist support through Mental Health Working Islington and Employment Advisors in Talking Therapies. More information on our services is below.
These include:
- Clubhouse: The programme of wellbeing opportunities takes place throughout the week from the Clubhouse alongside our coproduction activities. Training and support is available for those who are participating. Activities include gardening, creative sessions, cooking & catering, social events, website design, social media and marketing.
- Recovery services: We run a unique scheduled workday programme at the Clubhouse, where each day we have specific activities and tasks. Activities within the programme are developed in partnership with members and are based on members’ support plan and short and long-term goals. We work in partnership with other specialist organisations who can offer practical help and support around housing, social opportunities, debt and accessing services.
- Islington IPS: Our Islington IPS Employment Service works with those receiving support from the following community mental health teams: the Early Intervention Service, South Islington Recovery Team and the North Islington Recovery Team. Individual Placement & Support (IPS) is a clinically commissioned, evidence-based mental health employment service. We offer free, specialist advice and are integrated into all of Islington's mental health team in Primary and Secondary Care. Our Employment Specialists offer free, rapid 1-2-1 employment support to help find the right job for you.
- Islington EA in Talking Therapies: Our Employment advisors based in the Talking Therapies service provide tailored, individual support to help the person to think about the type of work they want to do, how much they need to earn and what support they need to succeed in the job they get. They can help with writing CVs, application forms and to prepare for job interviews. Support is also provided to sustain and retain employment.
- Mental Health Working Islington: The information, advice and guidance team work in collaboration with the Hillside Clubhouse Recovery project to support people into paid employment. The team utilise the structured workday programme to help you build transferable skills in a supportive setting. Collaborating with our partners across Islington, they can place you into specialised training and volunteering opportunities that will allow you to mould your own career path.
- Community Pantry: Delivered by St Giles Trust, the community pantry operates from Hillside’s Clubhouse and makes nutritious groceries affordable to residents facing food insecurity. The Pantry provides signposting and guidance to tackle the underlying causes of poverty. The Pantry offers personal face-to-face support along with high quality, nutritious and healthy food to those struggling to feed themselves and their families. For only £4.50 per visit, our members can choose up to £35 worth of food.
